The Editor
Kieran McGovern is an author of graded
reading materials for English language learners. He
has written original stories and adaptations for most
of the major publishers in the field including
Heinemann, Oxford University Press, Longman and
Penguin.
Three of his titles were singled out for 'their particular
excellence' in Bamford and Day's Extensive Reading in the Second
Language Classroom (Cambridge, 1998) where he was
described as being 'amongst the best writers of language
learner materials in English.’ He has also written
articles and reviews for magazines and journals
including Seven Days and IATEFL Voices.
An enhanced edition of his collected Oxford Storyland
Readers (OUP) was published in late 2005 and he is
currently working on a new series of primary readers for
Mira, Turkey's leading ELT publisher.
A series of articles 'Strange but True' will appear in the
leading Hong Kong newspaper, Ming Pao Daily in Autumn 2007.
Kieran is currently teaches in Bath, UK and edits ESL
Reading. The site will be reccommended to ESL teacher in a
forthcoming manual, Tips for
Teaching with Call (2007,
