Ed Sullivan: Poor Performance

Strangely, The Beatles do not perform at their best on The Ed Sullivan Show. Brian insists the play songs for a family audience. These include a cover of 'Til There Was You' and their recent singles: 'She Loves You' and 'I Want to Hold Your Hand'.

McCartney - the most family friendly performer - sings the lead on two of the first three songs. He seems nervous and sings slightly off key. He smiles throughout - as do all the others.

Generally the performance lacks the energy of the Cavern performances (see here).
