1962: Love Me Do
The
Beatles begin 1962 as a popular local band in Liverpool.
When they tour the UK, they support better known groups.
The songs they record in June 1962 are not good enough to
release.
In September, they return to the recording studios at Abbey
Road. They record their first single and the first Lennon
and McCartney song, 'Love Me Do'.
Love Me Do is popular live but the group isn't happy with
the recording. George Martin dislikes Ringo's drumming on
the record. He replaces it with a session musician.
