Change of Image
Brian
Epstein becomes the manager of The Beatles. Immediately he
starts to change their image. Business suits replace
leather jackets. Smiles on appear stage.
'I want you to become family
entertainers,' he tells them. The boys don’t like
this – but they want success. They put on their
suits.

Epstein
takes audition tapes of the group to several different
record companies. At first there is little interest in
their music. 'Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr
Epstein.' says Dick Best, the head of Decca Records
Eventually they get a record contract with the small
Parlophone label. In the summer of 1962 they made their
first recordings at the Abbey Road studios in
London.
