1969

The last two years of the group saw endless in-fighting. Business meetings interrupted recording sessions as the group broke into two camps.

On one side was Paul who was now advised by Linda's father. The others had an aggressive new manager named Alan Klein.

Another problem was increasing resentment of John's new wife, Yoko Ono. John invited her to join band activities. She even participated in recording sessions.

On one famous occasion Yoko had a cold. A bed was brought into the studio and a microphone attached. Even from her sick bed Yoko could offer advice unwanted by at least three members of the band

A Terrible Record

During the recording of Let it Be, the terrible atmosphere resulted in a terrible record. For once the four agreed on something - this could not be their final album.

The famous record producer Phil Spector came in to try and rescue
Let it Be. He added strings and other arrangements to cover some poor recordings. But some believe he made the album worse. Thirty years later Paul McCartney remixed the original tapes.

The Beatles went back into the studio where they produced their final masterpiece,
Abbey Road . This was released before Let it Be.
