Eddie had a new car. It was the biggest, fastest, most expensive and most beautiful car in England. Every week, Eddie cleaned his car. He parked it outside his house. He wanted everyone to see this beautiful machine. Eddie loved to show people his car. He only put it in the garage when it was raining. Eddie didn't like rain because he wanted people to see his car. He wanted them to say, 'Oh Eddie, that's an expensive car,' or 'Oh Eddie, that's a very fast car,' or 'Oh Eddie, that's the most beautiful car I have ever seen.'
Rain
One day, Eddie was standing outside his house. He was talking to some people about his car. Then it started to rain. 'Oh my goodness!' cried Eddie. 'It's raining. Wait a minute please!' He ran inside his house. Where were the keys to his garage? He couldn't find them. He looked out through the front door. Horrible rain was falling on his car. Eddie picked up an umbrella and ran back out into the street. 'Why do you need the umbrella?' asked Eddie’s little sister Carol. Eddie laughed. 'You silly little girl! Can't you see it's raining?' 'But If you don't like the rain you can sit in your car.' Eddie smiled. 'Silly Carole! The umbrella isn't for me. It's for my car.'
An umbrella for Eddie's car
Eddie put up his umbrella and stood in the rain, holding the umbrella over his car. More people came to watch. ‘You see, Carole,’ said Eddie. ‘People are coming to see my car. It's the biggest, fastest, most expensive and most beautiful car England’ ‘Oh Eddie you are so silly!’ said Carole. ‘They haven’t come to see your car. They’ve come to see a crazy man holding an umbrella over a car.
